Our client in Milpitas is developing a confidential wearable product, currently in developer phase, with an aggressive fall launch target. We are seeking a high level strategic Marketing Consultant who is experienced to be the lead/sole marketer for a new product, from strategy to execution thru launch.

Skills Required:
This role is responsible for all aspects of marketing with emphasis on product marketing, successfully launching a product in a new category; either launching under our client's brand or launching under partnership with a fashion/ jewelry vendor.
We are seeking a high level strategic VP-Equivalent Marketing Consultant. You must be a seasoned marketer who can effectively provide the client well thought through guidance on which GTM strategy is best, gain approval from a small leadership team and then execute. If the partnership approach is recommended by consultant, consultant will need to build the business case for partnering with a particular designer, obtain buy-in from leadership and create partnership with designer. The leadership team is not comprised of marketers so they are relying on consultant to bring this expertise to the team.
High level strategic branding experience required.
Fashion experience is also important. What we mean by fashion experience is any non-consumer electronic wearable, including: clothing, jewelry, eyewear, watches, etc.
Experience in partnerships is also key. Consultant will likely be forging a strategic partnership within the fashion or jewelry industry, so contacts or ability to form contacts in those industries would be a big plus.
As the sole marketer on the team, consultant will also need to cover the other aspects of marketing such as channels definition, pricing models, demand creation, social media coverage, PR etc.
Consultant must have experience in bringing a product to market in both retail and online channels. This means that the process should be well understood and the individual should have the capability to plan as well as execute.
The consultant must also be a team player and a driver/motivator. They are expected to lead and manage all marketing efforts. Well-developed communication skills and collaboration is a must.

Responsibilities:
Responsible as sole marketer on our client's incubator team to drive all aspects of marketing and successfully launch new wearable product in a new category.
Conduct market research/ customer segmentation.
Assess product viability and purchase drivers.
End Consumer
Non direct sales
Create Developer Platform and Developer Engagement Plan.
Create Go-to-Market Plan (including possible OEM, channel and developer community engagement, in addition to consumer).
Create Product Launch Plan (including PR/AR, advertising, social media recommendations etc.).
Create product story narrative, key messages, product positioning, and speaking points.
Assess cultural aspects of wearable, image capture, media management and sharing habits.
In terms of the actual execution of any or all of the above, the candidate should be prepared to assess and make recommendations for execution, develop the plans, oversee and implement the work.

Timing: March 2015 to December 2015 - 10 Month Contract

Location: Milpitas, CA - On-Site
Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.

The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
