Support Engineer/Field Support Engineer

Summary of Role:
The successful candidate will be a part of the sales organization providing technical and product support. This is a customer facing position involving primarily post-sales support to customers. Activities include product commissioning, product optimization in the customer environment, troubleshooting customer issues, and working with product development to resolve customer reported issues.

The product is a fully virtualized test and measurement solution that can generate and measure millions of unique application data flows. It provides comprehensive metrics and performance analysis for each application data flow and allows pinpointing and isolation of network problems.

Work as part of the sales team as a technical and product expert.
Provide local and remote support to help customers use the product, report issues when found, and work with development to fix product issues.
Provide product training to end users of the product.
Gather product requirements, customer use cases, and enhancements requests from customers to aid in improving the product.
Travel is required and will vary depending on the work location.

The successful candidate requires excellent written, verbal, and must have 5+ years of experience in network equipment development and test.
BS in Electrical or Computer Science Engineering.
Excellent troubleshooting skills.
Strong knowledge of IPv4 and IPv6, and Layer 4-7 protocols that run on IP. This includes unicast and multicast transmissions.
Ability to measure network performance and understand performance metrics.
Familiarity with cloud based data center networking and/or carrier based networking.
Familiarity with network security applications like firewalls, data integrity and encryption.
Working knowledge of Linux and different Linux distributions.
Must know scripting languages such as Python or Perl and must be able to use network packet data capture tools such as Wireshark or other network analyzers.
Additional Skills:
Knowledge of virtualization technologies and the challenges that they present; i.e. performance and optimization when using VMware, Hyper-V, and KVM, etc.
In depth knowledge of various hypervisors used in the networking industry.
Knowledge of SDN technologies.
Familiarity with Cisco networking equipment and servers is a plus.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
